rtriAttractions to Visit during Vacation Road Trips to Connecticut from Roberts Chrysler Dodge.

Planning a vacation road trip to Connecticut? With springtime knocking on the doors, it will soon be quite warm, so you can have a gala time here. It is full of both fascinating American history and vast natural expanses, offering something for everyone.

Here are some of the attractions you must visit:

Gillette Castle State Park

Gillette Castle Park is located in East Haddam. You can explore the elaborate castle-style mansion that was once home to William Gillette, the actor who originally played Sherlock Holmes. You will also find many hiking trails, picnic areas, and camping grounds along the river.

Saw Mill City Road

One of the spookiest and eeriest roads in the state, this single track lane plots a route through woodlands near the town of Shelton and is said to be one of the places where people from a Connecticut legend, “he Melon Heads” are sometimes spotted. These are said to be simple people that have deformities to their heads, and who live a simple secluded life away from the rest of American society, but whether you spot them or not this is certainly an eerie road, particularly if you drive it in the dark.

Holy Land

This abandoned theme park was once an attraction that drew around forty thousand visitors annually to the area, and had a large replica of several sites within the Holy Land, along with having a series of other Christian performances and attractions. However, since it closed in 1984 it has been gradually decaying, and while many of the structures remain, nature is slowly reclaiming the site, making it an interesting and odd place to explore.

Appalachian Trail

If you are fond of outdoor adventures, you can’t miss the Appalachian trail that runs through the towns of Kent and Cornwall. You get to hike along one of America’s largest and most well-known mountain ranges along the Housatonic River. There are both beginner and advanced level hiking trails. For the serious hikers, designated campsites along the trial are available for multi-day hikers.

West Rock Ridge State Park

West Rock Ride offers a spectacular view of New Haven Harbor and Long Island Sound for approximate 200 square miles. This beautiful spot is located in New Haven, where you can enjoy a peaceful and scenic hike just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Fishing, boating, biking, and horseback riding trails are also found here.

Tripping alone, or with friends/ family? Connecticut has something to offer everyone, so go ahead and enjoy!
